If you have reached this site you have probably visited it before or have found a residual Internet link to it in a search for real estate in Hydra Island Greece.

Due to the difficulties of working in Greece and the high costs of running a legitimate business, I have closed all my business interests and no longer work for myself in any capacity in the Greek system. While I still maintain the SaronicNet.com website, it is no longer used to advertise property for sale in Hydra. Similarly as I no longer own the HydraDirect.com website (which I founded in 2000 but sold in 2006 to Chilli Digital Ltd), I do not advertise there either nor do I contribute content to the HydraDirect site anymore.

Instead because I still love living in Hydra and having my home here, I am now working full-time for a UK based company as the Administrator of www.GreekIslandsRealEstate.com which I manage via the Internet so can still continue to afford live in Hydra. I am responsible for building the structure and functionality of this new site, the search engine optimisation and recruitment of Advertising Sales Agents and moderation of content from contributors. The new site covers all of the Greek Islands and is geared towards promoting real estate in the islands and as places to live and work in rather than just as places to visit as tourists.

So I am using in-depth technical knowledge and skills as a webmaster along with my previous experience as a real estate agent in Greece to produce what I hope will in the next 12 months be a well-rounded and technically excellent site to better promote home ownership in the Greek Islands. This new site will be much more far-reaching and "honest" in so much as it will publish the negatives as well as the positives. It will publish articles about the difficulties and how to over come them, the problems and how to avoid them and give explanations of the historical property market scams that still exist today. There will be Blogs from experts, many articles, a forum for asking questions and discussing issues, and visitors will be able to comment on any content.

With regard to buying property specifically in Hydra, I am still involved but ...

I will now work for the Buyer ONLY in any real estate transaction and I charge my buyer clients commission for my pre and post sales services. My service is invoiced via Greek Islands Real Estate and charged in pounds sterling. My service is available for property purchase ONLY in Hydra Island. I have nearly 10 years, hands-on experience of selling real estate in Hydra Island Greece. In the past I have worked as an agent taking a commission from both parties in the transaction as is normal working practice for agents in Greece. However these days I find it impossible to honestly represent the best interests of two parties with such conflicting interests.

My property for sale list (about 65 properties) includes: habitable houses, property to renovate, building land, shops, tavernas, businesses, hotels and ruins to rebuild. I DO NOT publish my list anymore - it is ONLY available to genuine potential buyers who contact me via email. I approach the purchase for every buyer as though I were spending my own money and looking after my own peace of mind. I attempt to ensure through full disclosure that the buyer's long-term interests and obligations are considered so they do not end up with problems and extra costs that they didn't anticipate during or after the sale.

Sellers can ask me to add their property to my list but will only be accepted if they provide the full documentation I request as I don't wish to waste my time or that of my clients if there are unresolved issues that might prohibit an eventual sale or cause the buyer unacceptable risk once they own the property. Alternatively (and additionally sellers are welcome of course to pay for an advert and publish it on the new www.GreekIslandsRealEstate.com website (and/or HydraDirect.com) if they wish to sell on a FSBO (For Sale By Owner) basis and handle all enquiries, viewings, negotiations & legal process themselves. I, nor Greek Islands Real Estate, do not charge sellers a commission if it happens that a buyer introduced by me or from a direct contact via their advert in the site buys their property.
